My name is Brittany Schaefers, and I've been living in Sioux Falls, SD for the last six years. I moved to Sioux Falls shortly after graduating college from Minnesota State University - Mankato, where I had received my BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration in photography.
So, how did I land here? Here's just a chunk of the story.
After I landed my first "big girl" job at a local pizza company, I had the opportunity to explore food photography. This gave me a taste for being a working photographer inside of a corporate setting. To say this job taught me a lot would be an understatement!
For the last three years, I've been working for a local non-profit, and it has truly been life changing. There, I continue to lead our photo/video shoots and explore new ways to show everything our organization does and stands for. I am also the lead graphic designer on the team, which means I get to push my creativity everyday. No day is ever the same, and I love it!
Job history aside, here's a little about me.
I married the love of my life, Jake, in January of 2023 (in SD, after a snow storm - yes, we are a little crazy). Together, we share our sweet (and sassy) beagle, Jäger. We brought him home in 2020, and life has been full of snuggles ever since.
Jake and I love to explore both new and old travel destinations, working our way through our list of every restaurant in town, and scoring movies together (we created our own score system). Our idea of a vacation tends to include several miles of hiking, combined with gawking at gorgeous views, and admiring all the trees we wish we had at home.
While we enjoy a tasty meal out, I also love to cook and bake. Experimenting in the kitchen is one of my favorite ways to use my creative problem solving skills. I've learned an incredible amount of patience and skills while expanding my abilities. This has poured over into another hobby of mine - gardening! Cultivating my own food has been so fulfilling. And of course, Jäger is the best little garden helper (even if he steals my cucumbers).
